The tender opened for the first five new-type passenger boats which will be built by adhering to the draft project form number four that was selected by the people of Istanbul during the “Go Ahead Istanbul, Choose Your Boat” campaign, was awarded to the Çeliktrans-Düzgit business partnership and the construction of the boats is still continuing. The first boat was delivered to IDO in December 2009, after the completion of her construction, tests and trials. The official ceremony concerning the commencement of the first ship delivered, SH-FATIH, to operate for serving the people of Istanbul was organized at the Sirkeci RoRo landing with the participation of the Prime Minister RECEP TAYYIP ERDOGAN. State Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Hayati Yazici, State Minister and Chief Spokesman Egemen Bagis, Minister of Transport Binali Yildirim, Minister of Labor and Social Security Murat Basesgioglu, Istanbul Senators, District-quarter mayors, Metropolitan Municipality Bureaucrats and a large number of citizens attended the ceremony, which was hosted by the Istanbul Metropolitan Mayor Kadir Topbas.
